The Initiative for ASEAN Integration (IAI) was launched in 2000 during Singapore’s ASEAN Chairmanship. It aims to narrow the development gap within Association of South East Asian Nations (ASEAN) and enhance regional integration for Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar and Vietnam. Under the IAI, the SCP operates three Singapore Cooperation Centres (SCCs) in Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam and conducts IAI programmes at various locations in Myanmar. Timor-Leste was included as an IAI beneficiary country in 2024.

Singapore signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in 1997 to establish the IMF-Singapore Regional Training Institute (STI). The IMF-STI has served as the IMF’s regional training centre for the Asia-Pacific region, providing training and technical assistance on macroeconomic and financial management, as well as on emerging issues such as climate change and FinTech. As part of this collaboration the STI has trained over 21,000 government officials from 38 countries, conducting more than 30 programmes annually in Singapore.
